Basketball Recap: Jaden Douglas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Baptist Hill over Hanahan

Baptist Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hanahan Hawks.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaden Douglas, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Douglas is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Martrell Wright was another key player, putting up six points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Even though they lost, Baptist Hill was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Hanahan found their leader in freshman Tripp Gallus, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Gallus a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dru Goldsmith, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Baptist Hill's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Hanahan, they moved to 4-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Baptist Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-50 win against American Leadership Academy on the 30th. As for Hanahan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-44 defeat against Airport on the 30th.
