After losing to the East St. Louis Flyers the last time they met, the Springfield Southeast Spartans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Springfield Southeast snuck past East St. Louis with a 55-49 win on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Springfield Southeast.
Marisa Gant continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with four steals. She hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Navehua Collier, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Springfield Southeast's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for East St. Louis, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield Southeast will take on Quincy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Quincy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for East St. Louis, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Vashon at 7:30 p.m.
