Alexa Verastegui was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Shaelyn Butler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Rio Hondo scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Raymondville by a score of 20-19. Even if the Bobcats couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Rio Hondo got a massive performance out of Mia Galvan, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebekah Zuniga, who scored three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Rio Hondo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .608. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
