Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Vela Sabercats, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 49-28 walloping at the hands of the Buccaneers on Friday. Vela's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Broderick Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Miller, rushing for 274 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Taylor really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Holmes, who picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Vela's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Miller, they have yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.
Vela does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Miller will be playing in front of their home fans against Victoria West at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Victoria West is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
