Moniteau and Karns City are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Warriors will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Gremlins at 7:00 p.m. Moniteau is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Moniteau fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Clarion Area on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 6-5.
Dawson Cook put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
Cook wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ian Ross, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, while Karns City put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for North Clarion. The Gremlins put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Gremlins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Mason Sherwin was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyson Frazer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Karns City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Clarion didn't got any hits.
Karns City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Moniteau, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Moniteau skirted past Karns City 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gremlins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
