The Sparta Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 56-25 loss at the hands of Onalaska. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sparta has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Sparta saw an underclassman step up: Elexa Jones scored seven points along with three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.
Sparta struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Sparta has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Onalaska, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Aquinas the next time they take the court. Sparta will host Aquinas at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, while Onalaska will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
