Softball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Grace Christian Academy

Zion Christian Academy came out on top against Grace Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Eagles blew past the Lions 7-1. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Marleigh McWilliams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laila Powell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison White, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Zion Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 12 consecutive games.

Zion Christian Academy's record now sits at 10-6. As for Grace Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zion Christian Academy will challenge Clarksville Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grace Christian Academy, they will square off against Franklin Road Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
