The 2023 high school volleyball season is complete with state champions crowned across the country.
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) is the MaxPreps National Champion and senior outside hitter
Lauren Harden of
Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.) has been named MaxPreps National Player of the Year.
The postseason honors continue with the unveiling of the MaxPreps Sophomore All-America Team.
The National Sophomore of the Year is
Layli Ostovar of Mater Dei. Coming back from an off-season injury, she developed into a go-to hitter and six-rotation player for the Monarchs.
With veteran hitters like
Cymarah Gordon and
Isabel Clark, the 5-foot-11 Ostovar gave the potent Mater Dei hitting attack another weapon for teams to worry about despite losing a hitter to an off-season transfer.
"She added stability," Mater Dei coach Dan O'Dell said. "We knew we had
Layli, who would have an impact. I think this group of girls were like
'Layli is really good, so we’ll be just fine.' "
She posted 347 kills, 312 digs and 380 serve receptions on the game's biggest stages as Mater Dei played an aggressive national schedule that set them up for their CIF Open Division championship.
6-2 | Outside hitterThe Tigers went 48-7 thanks in large part to her team-high 717 kills to go along with 831 serve receptions, 395 digs, 60 aces and 51 blocks.
Bellamie Beus, Skyview (Nampa, Idaho)
5-10 | Outside hitterThe Hawks won a fourth straight title as their next great hitter logged 533 kills. Skyview went 29-6 against a national schedule and didn't lose to an in-state opponent as Beus added 253 digs and 418 receptions.
Erin Clark, Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.)
5-8 | LiberoHelped the Aztecs to a 6A semifinal berth and 34-9 record as the defensive leader of the team. She had 545 digs and is approaching 1,000 in her two seasons. She added 49 aces.
Makenna Crosson, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.)
6-2 | Opposite, outside hitterLed the Monarchs in kills with 395 as Mitty finished No. 8 and went 33-5 against a national schedule.
Allie Davison, Marian (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.)
5-10 | Setter Following in the footsteps of former Mustang great Ava Sarafa (University of Kentucky), Davison had 1,332 assists this season in her first as the team's primary facilitator. She added 102 kills and 86 aces as Marian went 44-8.
Laura Eichert, Lake Stevens (Wash.)
6-0 | Outside hitterHelped the 22-12 Vikings to a Class 4A semifinal berth with 606 kills in 106 sets while adding 80 aces, 64 blocks, 246 digs and 529 serve receptions.
Audrey Flanagan, Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach, Calif.)
6-2 | Outside hitterStepped on the big stage during the Ann Kang Invitational early in the season. She finished the season with a team-high 452 kills as the Mustangs advanced to the Southern California Open Division regional semifinals.
Finley Krystkowiak, Torrey Pines (San Diego, Calif.)
6-2 | Outside hitterDaughter of former NBA standout and college head coach Larry Krystkowiak, the six-rotation player led the Falcons in kills with 484. She added 589 serve receptions, 263 digs and 50 aces as Torrey Pines went 24-7.

5-11 | Sophomore (Class of 2026) | UncommittedCame back from an off-season injury to help her team win state and national titles. She notched 347 kills in 111 sets for a stacked Mater Dei lineup while adding 312 digs.
Aubree Deshetsky, North Branch (Mich.)
5-9 | Outside hitterLed the 56-4-1 Broncos to the Division 2 title while dropping 515 kills in 143 sets. She added 440 digs, 63 aces and 550 serve receptions.
Ashlyn Seay, Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas)
6-0 | Outside hitterThe Bobcats spent time in the MaxPreps Top 25 and their kills leader was a big reason why. She pounded 488 kills (4.1 per set) while adding 270 digs, 289 serve receptions and 46 blocks.
Halle Thompson, Grand Oaks (Spring, Texas)
6-0 | Sophomore (Class of 2026) | UncommittedTallied 493 kills as her team went 50-1 and grabbed the Texas 6A title in the school's fifth year of existence.
Trinity Thompson, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.)
5-9 | SetterThe Gaels went 34-5, winning the 5A title as she tossed up 1,132 assists (10.6 per set). She added 47 aces and 40 blocks.
Ayanna Watson, Bishop Gorman
6-4 | Outside hitter Led the Gaels with 605 kills in 107 sets while hitting at nearly 40 percent. The six-rotation player added 601 receptions, 373 digs and 52 blocks.
Addison West, Skutt Catholic (Omaha, Neb.)
6-0 | Outside hitterSeconds on the Skyhawks with 395 kills as they won their ninth straight Class B title. West added 272 digs and 456 serve receptions.
