Maroa-Forsyth has gone 7-2 against Monticello recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Trojans will welcome the Sages at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Maroa-Forsyth turned things around against Riverton on Tuesday. They blew past the Hawks 19-3. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Maroa-Forsyth got a massive performance out of Adelyn Simmons, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Simmons has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Ravenscraft, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Monticello entered their tilt with Sullivan on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Redskins with a sharp 14-5 victory.
Madison Highland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sadie Walsh, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lucy Leatherwood, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Monticello kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Monticello's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Maroa-Forsyth, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maroa-Forsyth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Monticello struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maroa-Forsyth might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Monticello in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
