Othello is a perfect 10-0 against Prosser since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. Othello will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Othello is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Quincy 20-3 on Thursday. With that win, the Huskies brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.
Kenzie Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Alizay Pruneda was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Quezada, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Othello always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
22 must be Prosser's lucky number: they beat Grandview with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 22-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
The team relied heavily on Layla Barnhart, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Mia Salinas was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Othello now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Prosser, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Othello hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Prosser struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Othello got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Prosser by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
