The Wills Point Tigers will face off against the Van Alstyne Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Wills Point had to suffer through a rough 50-21 loss at the hands of Caddo Mills. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wills Point in their matchups with Caddo Mills: they've now lost five in a row.
Jett Fletcher put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 207 yards and a touchdown. Larandion Dowden was another key contributor, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Van Alstyne waltzed into two weeks ago's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Gainesville with a sharp 38-14 win. Considering Van Alstyne has won three games by more than 23 points this season, two weeks ago's blowout was nothing new.
Brady Carson had a dynamite game for Van Alstyne, picking up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. Carson's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Kaster Fonseca also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.
Wills Point's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Van Alstyne, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
