Softball Recap: West End Has No Trouble Against Locust Fork

West End barely beat Locust Fork the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The West End Patriots put the hurt on the Locust Fork Hornets with a sharp 8-1 victory on Tuesday. That looming 8-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.

Braylee King and Emma Franklin made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, King tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Franklin tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. King has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, King scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Franklin scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Franklin a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DaLeigha Wheeler, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

West End kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

West End pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Locust Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
