Oxford has been on the road for two straight, but on November 23rd they'll finally head home. After each having a week off, the Oxford Wolverines and the Derby Red Raiders will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Thursday just wasn't the day for Oxford's offense. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of Ansonia. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oxford in their matchups with Ansonia: they've now lost nine in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Matthew Mcguire, who rushed for 119 yards.
Meanwhile, Derby's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 48-20 loss at the hands of Woodland Regional.
The losing side was boosted by Bryan Mclean, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown. Mclean's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayzair Barbera, who threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Derby, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Everything went Oxford's way against Derby in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as Oxford made off with a 40-20 win. Does Oxford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Derby turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
