The Loomis Wolves will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Loomis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Loomis scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They took down Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] 57-39. The win was a breath of fresh air for Loomis as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Cale Nelson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Zac Rademaker was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Anselmo-Merna lost to Cambridge on the road by a decisive 52-37 margin last Monday. While losing is never fun, Anselmo-Merna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Cambridge is ranked 70th).
Loomis' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Anselmo-Merna, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Loomis against Anselmo-Merna in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 84-25 victory. With Loomis ahead 54-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
