Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Cypress Lake Panthers walked away with it. They strolled past the Tritons with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 61-42. This was payback for Cypress Lake, who suffered a 48-26 loss the last time these two teams met.
Cypress Lake found their leader in underclassman Lilly Witz, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Witz has scored all season. Nessiah Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Cypress Lake's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Mariner, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Cypress Lake will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Port Charlotte on February 9th. Port Charlotte presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cypress Lake in Florida (Port Charlotte is ranked 138th, while Cypress Lake is ranked 337th). Mariner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
