Trinity is 8-2 against Onalaska since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Trinity Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Onalaska Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Onalaska took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Trinity, who comes in off a win.
Even though Trinity has not done well against New Waverly recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Trinity managed a 53-49 victory over New Waverly. The win was just what Trinity needed coming off of a 66-37 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Onalaska pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 77-63 to Shepherd. Onalaska has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Brayden Topkins, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Lucas Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Onalaska smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shepherd only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Trinity's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-11. As for Onalaska, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.
Trinity ended up a good deal behind Onalaska in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 68-54. Can Trinity avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
