The Highland Tech Rams lost against the Shelby Golden Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Highland Tech had to suffer through a rough 78-48 loss at the hands of the Golden Lions. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Highland Tech in their matchups with the Golden Lions: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Highland Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Sherrill. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Sherrill has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yoel Mussie, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Highland Tech were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their 11th loss (out of 17 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Highland Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Shelby, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Tech will take on the Ironmen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shelby, they will be playing at home against the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bessemer City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Golden Lions like a good challenge.
