Even though the Millard South Patriots scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Omaha Central Eagles still came out on top. Omaha Central snuck past Millard South with a 59-55 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Omaha Central also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Omaha Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devin Holmon, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. D.J. Sterling was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 steals.
Millard South's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bernie Anderson, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals, and Isaac Jensen who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds. Anderson scored a full 29.1% of Millard South's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Albert, who scored 8 points.
Even though they lost, Millard South were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Central only pulled down 21.
Omaha Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Millard South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Omaha Central is on the road again on Friday and play against Bryan at 7:15 p.m. on December 15th. As for Millard South, they will take on Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
