Basketball Recap: Monte Alto's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

Monte Alto hadn't done well against Idea Academy recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Monte Alto Blue Devil came out on top against the Idea Academy Titans by a score of 36-28. The Blue Devil's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brielle Neiro, who posted six steals. Neiro is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was America Cortez, who had nine rebounds and six steals.

Monte Alto's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Idea Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monte Alto will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against IDEA North Mission at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Idea Academy, they will host Vanguard Academy Beethoven at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
