Softball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Zion Christian Academy came out on top against Hughes on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Eagles blew past the Lions 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Marleigh McWilliams and Leighla Rains did most of the damage at the plate: McWilliams went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Rains went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave McWilliams a new career-high. Willa Hughes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Zion Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Zion Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hughes, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Zion Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 draw against Marshall County on the 30th. Hughes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
