The Civic Memorial Eagles have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took down Waterloo 66-48  on Friday. The  victory was all the more spectacular given Civic Memorial's disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings  (they are ranked 495th, while Waterloo is ranked 224th).
 Leading Civic Memorial to victory were  August Frankford and  Adam Ogden.  Frankford  dropped  a double-double on 17 points and ten  rebounds, while  Ogden  scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which  Ogden has scored at least 25% of Civic Memorial's points.  Riley Lamb was another key contributor,  scoring six points along with ten  rebounds.
 Civic Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Waterloo, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Civic Memorial and Mascoutah will face off  at 7:30  p.m.  on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Waterloo and Highland will face off  at 7:30  p.m.  on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Highland is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
