The Smith Academy Fighting 54th will head out on the road to face off against the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Smith Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Saturday, Smith Academy took a serious blow against Fort Wayne Canterbury, falling 54-20. While losing is never fun, Smith Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Fort Wayne Canterbury is ranked 179th).
Meanwhile, Elkhart Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Fairfield 66-39. Elkhart Christian Academy has not had much luck with Fairfield recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Smith Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Smith Academy came up short against Elkhart Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 40-31. Can Smith Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
