Dexter was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in SE Missouri - Central. Earlier in the week, the Bearcats triumphed over Kennett 26-7.
New Madrid County Central moved up to 258 from 284 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-14 win over the Eagles helped the Eagles improve their standing.
Dexter's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. DJ Dowdy threw for 180 yards and Chase Young had 91 yards receiving. On the ground Ryan Joyner chipped in 134 yards. Jonathan Foels helped Dexter's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
Austin Aldridge made the biggest impact on defense this week as Aaron Pixley's team beat the Indians. The sophomore pulled down one interception.
The Bearcats' Dowdy and Young have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Dowdy has thrown for 311 yards this season, while Young has nine catches for 140 yards. Darrell Monroe from Caruthersville leads the league in rushing with 504 yards.
A big matchup in SE Missouri - Central this week will be when Kennett takes on Charleston. Kenneth Riedinger's team is in fifth place, while the Bluejays are in second place.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating New Madrid County Central, 41-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the Caruthersville.
