Baseball Recap: Northern Highlands Starts off Right with Win over Pascack Hills

Northern Highlands had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Pascack Hills Broncos. This was payback for the Highlanders, who suffered a 1-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Donald Kohler looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Evan Radoncic and Zach Braunstein did most of the damage at the plate: Radoncic scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Braunstein went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Putrino, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Coming up, Northern Highlands will take on Bergen Tech at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pascack Hills, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge St. Joseph Regional at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Green Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Broncos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
