Trimble hasn't had much luck against Eastern recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tomcats will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Trimble is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Trimble will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Vinton County, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Tomcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Vikings on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Tomcats have won by just one run.
Jessa Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Burdette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Olivia Kasler was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eastern didn't have quite enough to beat Marietta on Friday and fell 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.
Aedre Ault 2028 made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Olivia White 2029, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Trimble's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trimble has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Trimble suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Eastern in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Tomcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
