Clovis North is 8-2 against Central since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Broncos will challenge the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clovis North 2.8, Central 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Clovis North headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Clovis let them put that streak behind them. The Broncos put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-3 win on Tuesday. The Broncos not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.

Jocelynn Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Zoey Thomas and Brynn Gentry did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Gentry scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Gentry has posted since back in March of 2024. Riley Grealy was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Clovis North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Central had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bears.
Kaia Galaviz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Central's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ella Bakholdin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Grace Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Clovis North is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their record is now 12-1-1.
Clovis North beat Central 5-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
