The University Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 58-47 to Heritage Christian, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. University was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Heritage Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Trailblazers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie Feeney, who scored two points along with 14 rebounds and five assists. Feeney is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Conyers, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Heritage Christian was led to victory by Mya Davis and Joslyn Marshall. Davis scored 21 points along with four steals, while Marshall scored 12 points along with seven assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jelyza Lapsley, who scored five points along with three steals.
University has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Heritage Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University will face off against Tri-West Hendricks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Hamilton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hamilton Heights will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
