Football Recap: Joplin Comes Up Short

Joplin's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 28-21 to the Carthage Tigers. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Joplin lost, don't look at Trenton McCadney. Despite the final result, he picked up 202 receiving yards and one touchdown. Traevian McCadney also helped with two scores in total.

This is the second loss in a row for Joplin and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-1 Republic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 81.7% over those games). As for Carthage, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Joplin will square off against rival Neosho at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: McCadney and Keisean Rhone. Meanwhile, Carthage is set to challenge their familiar foe Republic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
