West Suburban - Gold recap October 8, 2013
Hinsdale South moved up to 214 from 246 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Suburban - Gold. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of beating Leyden 26-3.
Willowbrook extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Proviso East, 48-28. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Warriors.
Willowbrook's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brian Johnson threw for 457 and 6 touchdowns and Hayden Adams had 233 yards receiving. On the ground Jeremy Barnes chipped in 163 yards. Barnes helped Willowbrook's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 117 yards.
Adams had a great week catching the football as Nick Hildreth's team beat the Pirates. He caught 11 passes for 233 yards.
He went 24-34 with 1 interception.
Johnson put up the best numbers through the air as the Warriors bested Proviso East.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Willowbrook's Johnson and Adams have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Johnson has thrown for 958 yards this season, while Adams has 18 catches for 301 yards. Aaron Whigham from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 780 yards.
As it stands, the Warriors are in first, while Downers Grove South is in third.
Leyden lost to Hinsdale South 26-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Whigham was a bright spot for Tom Cerasani's team, as he ran for 59 yards in the defeat.
