Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact the Wake Forest Cougars proved on Friday. They managed a 46-41 win over Louisburg. Given Wake Forest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Louisburg is ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wake Forest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordyn Williams, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and five steals. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Taya Simpkins was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Louisburg still got an impressive performance from Richanti Jackson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Jackson also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryanne Arrington, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Wake Forest and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Louisburg, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
