Basketball Recap: Thief River Falls Falls Despite Big Games from Everett Nelson and Bridger Wilcox

Thief River Falls lost against Sacred Heart back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Thief River Falls Prowlers fell just short of the Sacred Heart Eagles by a score of 55-52. The match marked the Prowlers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Thief River Falls' loss came despite strong showings from Bridger Wilcox and Everett Nelson. Wilcox almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Nelson dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Nelson is becoming a predictor of Thief River Falls' success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 2-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Wyatt Nelson, who posted nine points.

Thief River Falls dropped their record down to 8-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sacred Heart, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season.

Thief River Falls wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-58 win against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on the 11th. As for Sacred Heart, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-48 victory against Roseau on the 8th.
