4A I-Meck recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Charlotte, who took down 65th ranked Mooresville, 28-7.
Hough extended the longest winning streak in 4A I-Meck this week by beating North Mecklenburg, 33-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Lake Norman's dynamic duo of Josh Ladowski and Corey Joyner proved tough for Hopewell to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ladowski threw for 138 yards and one touchdown and Joyner had 91 yards receiving. Trevis Gaylord helped Lake Norman's passing attack out by catching two balls for 28 yards.
Dre'an Long was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 154 yards on 21 carries as Hough fell to the Titans. Teammate Bobby Howard added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
Bobby Collins's team's Josh Stilley and Sanders Poff have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stilley has thrown for 1183 yards this season, while Poff has 19 catches for 496 yards. Larenz Bryant from Vance leads the league in rushing with 961 yards.
The Cougars' Bryant needs only 39 yards against Lake Norman next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Two of the top units in 4A I-Meck will face off this week when the Huskies take on the Lions. Hough's offense has scored 211 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while West Charlotte has allowed only 236 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Vance takes on Rob Mcneely's team. As it stands, the Cougars are in third, while the Wildcats are in fifth.
Marcus Surratt's team moved up to 207 from 257 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions were able to make the jump by beating the Blue Devils 28-7.
