This season hasn't been kind to the Wethersfield Eagles, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 60-20 defeat at the hands of Manchester on Friday. Wethersfield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
Manchester's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emanuel Sampel, who threw for 293 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Julian Henderson, who rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Wethersfield's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Manchester, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wethersfield will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Newington at 6:00 p.m. on November 22nd. Newington has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September 9. Manchester is on the road again on Friday and play against East Hartford at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. East Hartford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 156 points over their last three matches.
