It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Summit Classical Christian School Archers can now relate to. They fell to the Lions 59-53. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Summit Classical Christian School of the 66-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Summit Classical Christian School's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Gledhill, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Gledhill hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Riley Hyde, who scored ten points along with eight assists and two steals.
Sound Christian's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from AJ Alexeev, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alexeev has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last 16 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Mesler, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Summit Classical Christian School's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Sound Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Summit Classical Christian School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sound Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Muckleshoot Tribal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Muckleshoot Tribal is on a four-game streak of home wins, Sound Christian a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
