Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 28-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Corunna on Friday. Notre Dame Prep's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Notre Dame Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Tuttle. Despite the final result, he threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Zach Mylenek, who rushed for 147 yards.
Corunna's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Edington, who rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns. Tarick Bower also helped out with an impressive 131 receiving yards.
Notre Dame Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Corunna, their victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Notre Dame Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Corunna has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Lutheran North at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Lutheran North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Corunna is ranked sixth).
