The Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates will take on the Fowler Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pewamo-Westphalia will be strutting in after a win while Fowler will be coming in after a defeat.
Pewamo-Westphalia not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 22-0). They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Union City. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Alex Drysdale made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Pewamo-Westphalia: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Pewamo-Westphalia let Logan Drysdale and Hayden Smith run wild. Drysdale went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Smith went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in April. Brayton Thelen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Fowler's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Patrick on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled against the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Conner Katich was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double.
Pewamo-Westphalia pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fowler, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Pewamo-Westphalia beat Fowler 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
