The Rain Red Raiders will take on the Niceville Eagles in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Rain is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Even though Rain has not done well against Blount recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rain narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Blount 57-54. The win was just what Rain needed coming off of a 69-41 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Niceville was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to Fort Walton Beach. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Niceville in their matchups with Fort Walton Beach: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Niceville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anwar Conley, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Kowal, who scored 13 points.
The victory got Rain back to even at 7-7. As for Niceville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
