The Kirtland Hornets will head out to square off against the Berkshire Badgers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Monday, Kirtland made easy work of Wickliffe and carried off a 3-0 victory.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Kirtland was: they took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-11, 25-9.
Among those leading the charge was Bria Golem, who had seven digs and three aces. Matea Vujica also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Meanwhile, Berkshire had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Blue Devils.
The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-17, 25-9.
Kirtland better keep an eye on Ava Chuha. She was instrumental in Berkshire's win, getting seven assists and five aces. That's the most aces Chuha has posted since back in August.
Kirtland's record now sits at 12-4. As for Berkshire, their record is now 12-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Kirtland has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12 aces per game. However, it's not like Berkshire struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Kirtland suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Berkshire when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
