The Central Cambria Red Devils will head out to face off against the Penn Cambria Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Cambria is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Central Cambria beat Chestnut Ridge 7-2.
Rowyn Ruddek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Kaydence Sinclair was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Matlin, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Central Cambria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chestnut Ridge only posted a batting average of .208.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penn Cambria). They put the hurt on Bishop Carroll with a sharp 27-4 win on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Emily Cully and Madelyn Kittell did most of the damage at the plate: Cully went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Kittell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Cully has posted since back in March of 2025. Autumn Yeoman also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Central Cambria's record now sits at 10-2. As for Penn Cambria, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Penn Cambria's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Central Cambria has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Penn Cambria, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Central Cambria keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Central Cambria got the 'W' when the teams last played last Friday against Penn Cambria by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
