The Brewer Patriots pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Russellville, falling 99-61. Brewer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-24.
When it comes to explaining why Brewer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cason Oden. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Frazier, who scored 8 points.
The last time Brewer won on the road was back back in November. Having now lost three straight away matches, they've bumped their record down to 3-8. As for Russellville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Brewer will be playing in front of their home fans against West Point at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Point presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brewer in Alabama (West Point is ranked 72nd, while Brewer is ranked 286th). As for Russellville, they will head out on the road to face off against Jasper at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
