It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Valley Vikings ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They secured a 41-35 W over Las Cruces. The win was familiar territory for Valley who now have three in a row.
Valley was led to victory by Tyler Kozlowski and Julian Chavez. Kozlowski scored 14 points, while Chavez scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Rosendo Roybal, who scored five points.
Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. As for Las Cruces, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Valley and Silver will face off at 12:20 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Silver will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Valley is ranked 12th). Las Cruces won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Navajo Prep at 4:10 p.m. on December 22nd. Navajo Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Las Cruces likes a good challenge.
