The reigning MaxPreps Female Athlete of the Year just etched her name into the Alaska record books Tuesday night.
According to the Anchorage Daily News
, Dimond (Anchorage)
6-foot senior center Alissa Pili
scored 37 points in a 64-43 win over West (Anchorage) to become the state's leading career 4A scorer.
Pili, a USC signee, now has 2,321 career points, surpassing the previous mark of 2,290 finished off in 1994 by Britt Jacobson of Chugiak. No records have been kept at lower levels of Alaska sports, thus it is designated as a 4A mark.
Clearly, Pili has set herself apart from most with her all-around athletic prowess, which led to her MaxPreps 2017-18 honor.
In the fall, she had a state-best 463 kills (next best was 306), leading the Lynx to a 49-4 record and a fourth straight state title. She hopes to lead Dimond to its fourth straight state basketball finals, after winning the crown last year. Pili has also won three state track-and-field individual crowns and a wrestling championship.
The Dimond basketball team is 19-4 and ranked third in the state.
Her brother Brandon Pili is a 6-4, 320-pound defensive tackle who just completed his sophomore season at USC.
