The Fossil Ridge Sabercats struggled with assists on Thursday (the Grandview Wolves had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fossil Ridge was outmatched by Grandview on the road and fell 76-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fossil Ridge has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Fossil Ridge had strong showings from Elli Johnson, who scored six points along with three steals, and Carmen Arkin, who scored six points along with nine rebounds. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her.
It was another big night for Sienna Betts, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds for Grandview. The game was Betts' tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Deija Roberson, who scored 18 points.
Fossil Ridge has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Grandview, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will take on Erie at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Erie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fossil Ridge in Colorado (Erie is ranked 15th, while Fossil Ridge is ranked 91st). As for Grandview, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th.
