Basketball Recap: Arleta Piles Up the Points Against Monroe

Arleta won the last time they faced Monroe and things went their way on Monday too. The Arleta Mustangs blew past the Monroe Vikings 74-38. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Monroe lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jevonte Brown, who posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Jeremiah O'Garro was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and three blocks.

The victory made it two in a row for Arleta and bumps their season record up to 12-6. As for Monroe, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Arleta will head out to challenge Verdugo Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Verdugo Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season. As for Monroe, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Poly at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poly has three straight wins, Monroe has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
