Basketball Recap: Union Grove Extends Winning Streak to Four

If McDonough wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Union Grove, they should've done a better job of containing Maegan Jenkins. The Union Grove Wolverines snuck past the McDonough Warhawks with a 50-45 win on Saturday thanks in part to Jenkins, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Those 16 points gave her a new career-high.

McDonough's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amira Carter, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadah Rembert, who had 12 points.

The victory (which was Union Grove's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for McDonough, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Union Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-37 win against Ola on the 7th. As for McDonough, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-43 defeat against Stockbridge on the 7th.
