Baseball Game Preview: Frankfort Wildcats vs. Onaga Buffaloes

Frankfort is a perfect 4-0 against Onaga since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will welcome the Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Onaga will be up against a hot Frankfort team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Wildcats put the hurt on Blue Valley with a sharp 11-1 win on Monday.

Meanwhile, Onaga had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They blew past the Panthers 14-4.

Jackson Kolterman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Onaga's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Casen Hutfles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Onaga: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Cameron Kramer was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Onaga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

Frankfort's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Onaga, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Everything went Frankfort's way against Onaga in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Frankfort made off with a 12-2 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffaloes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
