Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Edison Tigers

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will head out on the road to take on the Edison Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Roosevelt's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 matches.

Last Friday, Roosevelt didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sanger, but they still walked away with a 73-67 win.

Roosevelt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cobi Posas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Posas has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last ten times he's played. Terrell Sutherland was another key player, going 8 of 15 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-55 heartbreaker at the hands of Orange Cove. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly six points.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.

Roosevelt might still be hurting after the 81-55 defeat they got from Edison in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Roosevelt, Ray Brown (who went 10 for 18 on his way to 25 points and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
