St. Charles entered their tilt with the Lackey Chargers with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. St. Charles came out on top against Lackey by a score of 54-45 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for St. Charles, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
St. Charles' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shamir Taylor led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Taylor hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tajir Webster, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lackey still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Mansaray, who scored 20 points. Kentavious Dancy was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
St. Charles pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Lackey, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Charles will take on Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Leonardtown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully St. Charles likes a good challenge. Lackey will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Thomas Stone at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Thomas Stone is ranked 124th, while Lackey is ranked 118th).
