The Adair County Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Larue County Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Larue County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Adair County, who comes in off a win.
On Thursday, Adair County needed a bit of extra time to put away Washington County. They skirted past the Commanders 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since May 2, 2024.
Jagger Kemp was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brody Brock was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Bryce Russell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Adair County lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington County didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Larue County fell victim to Green County and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 1-0. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Brayden Singleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
Adair County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Larue County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 18-3-1.
Adair County beat Larue County 8-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
