Basketball Recap: FAMU DRS Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask FAMU DRS). They enjoyed a cozy 44-30 win over the Jefferson County Tigers on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Baby Rattlers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

FAMU DRS's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nivre Green, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 rebounds gave Green a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Queenn Love, who posted 19 points and three steals.

FAMU DRS smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Jefferson County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samiah Washington, who had six points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Schmigel, who put up nine points.

FAMU DRS's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for Jefferson County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

FAMU DRS will head out on the road to challenge Gadsden County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 37-26 loss against Wakulla on the 17th.
